The key is understanding the underlying nature of the move: the forces the Omoplata places on the shoulder are almost identical to those of the Kimura, an internal-rotation shoulder lock, except the Kimura's two-handed figure-four grip is replaced by your leg and hip. When they pull the arm in tight and drop their head to defend, switch to a wrist grip for the gift wrap, taking their arm across their own neck, then climb to the back and threaten the rear naked choke.
